MISSION STATEMENT: To create avenues for all to drink from the fount of knowledge of Ifa/Orisa. This will make it possible for all to become enlightened, well informed and knowledgeable devotees and Ifa/Orisa Priests. We wish all to be informed researchers, enlightened critics, and functional members of their various communities through the supply of accurate and rich information and unbiased and critical analysis of facts as presented by the Holy Odu of Ifa. This will be achieved through the publication of books, pamphlets, leaflets, journals, and hand bills. Seminars, lectures, workshops, and symposia will be offered to compliment the written material made available to the public. We shall reach out to the masses through the use of electronic media such as the radio, the television, internet, and film productions. We wish everyone to explore the treasures of Ifa and Orisa from the different segments listed above with the view of imparting positively on people in order to help them fulfill their individual destinies but also all communal and societal destinies.
Oluwo Solagbade Popoola has over 30 years of Ifa knowledge in the areas of: Divination and Ebo, Interpretation and Analysis of Odu stanzas, Ifa medicine, Philosophy of Ifa, History of Ifa, Ethics of Ifa, and has given many lectures throughout the years over various topics of the Ifa Tradition. Apart from being a Babalawo, Chief Solagbade Popoola also holds a Bachelors (BS) in Sociology and Anthropology (Second Class Upper Division) 1980. He also continued on to receive a Masters Degree in the above subject areas as well, 1982. He received his bachelors and masters degrees while attending school at The University of Ile Ife, Nigeria. He then went on to receive a Diploma in Modern Management, 1989 while attending school at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Chief Popoola was also a Co-Founder of Orunmila Youngsters International (Oyin) 1980’s. This institute was created to spread the teachings, philosophy, and morals of Ifa throughout the world. In 2004, this institute was transformed into the International Ifa Training Institute (IITI). Currently Chief Popoola has Ifa Temples in Odewale, Nigeria, Los Angeles, USA, Mexico D.F., Caracas, Venezuela, Trinidad, and England.
Chief Popoola also was the editor in chief of “Orunmila” magazine which started in 1985 and continues to be the editor in chief of the new version of the magazine “Eleri Ipin” which is the official magazine of the International Council for Ifa Religion. Chief Popoola also holds the title of Chairman of Ethics and Scripture within the International Council for Ifa Religion.
Fakunle Oyesanya was born in Lagos and is a native of Iperu Remo, Ogun state, Nigeria. Fakunle has abiding faith in African religion, culture, art and community work. His disposition with Renaissance Art catapulted him into the use of the fine arts and unspoken word as an instrument of freedom and healing. He has held several posts and discharged various responsibilities in religious, cultural and community based organizations. These include as follows:1996-2000 President, Orunmila Youngsters International, 2002-2004 Public Relations Officer, International Council for Ifa Religion, 2000 – Present Features Editor, Orunmila Magazine – till date, 2005 – Present News editor, Elerii Ipin Magazine, 2005 – Present President, African Diaspora Ancestral Commemoration Institute, ADACI-Nigeria, 2008 – Present Research Partner, Solagbade Popoola Library Inc. Fakunle is also an accomplished Ifa Priest and holds the title of “Erinmi Awo”. His father is Oluwo Adeboye Oyesanya of Ijo Orunmila, Ato, Ebute-Meta Lagos, Nigeria. Fakunle is also married and has children.
Awo Agboola (Jose Rodriguez) was born in San Diego, California and is of Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian roots. He is the “Erinmi Awo” of Egbe Ifa Otura Tukaa in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was Initiated into Ifa during the month of July, 2005 by Oloye Olubikin Fasina Falade in Los Angeles, California and initiated into Oro duirng the month of June, 2012 by the Aaba Oro, Oloye Aderoju, the highest ranking Oro devotee in Iseyin land, in the compound of Solagbade Popoola. He was also initiated into Egbe in September of 2015 in the compound of Solagbade Popoola. He is also an Omo Ayan and had his hands washed by Felipe Garcia-Villamil of Matanzas, Cuba in 2004 in Los Angeles, California. He was taught to play Bata, Guiro, Bembe Macagua, Palo, Rumba, and Iyesa by Don Felipe Garcia-Villamil and his family. Agboola is also a singer, dancer, and drum player of the musical forms called Bomba and Plena from the island of Puerto rico and is the founder of the Bomba group called Atabey, which currently resides in Los Angeles.
Agboola is the Executive Director of Ifaworks, LLC, the sole organization presenting and distributing to all Ifa and Orisa practioners, worshippers, and spirituality enthusists the great works of Oluwo Solagbade Popoola. Agboola is currently an Omo Awo under the tutelage of Oluwo Solagbade Popoola of Odewale, Ogun State.
In 1999, he received his Bachelors of Arts degree in History at San Diego State University and received a Masters degree in School Psychology from National University in 2002. Agboola has worked as a School Psychoogist for over a decade. He is also bilingual and speaks both Spanish and English.
